| Retaliator
revient avec un EP sympathique malgré des solos qui n'en
finissent plus, comme sur le titre "take these chains".
(on dirait un groupe de oi! avec Satriani à la gratte!)
Moins rapide mais aussi moins métal que leur premier 45t
"feel the power", sans aucun doute "patriotic alcoholics"
est un EP efficace avec une bonne reprise de Blitz. On retrouvera
néanmoins ce coté très anglais et fier de
l'être dans la pochette et les paroles.A noter quand même
que ça sonne un peu Condemned 84, on s'en serait douté... |

alcoholics e.p' 7" (camden town zine/guilty rec.) der neuste
streich, von einer der wohl heut zu tage erfolgreichsten skinhead
gruppen englands. die neue ep wurde in kooperation von camden
town und guilty records produziert. in den letzten jahren wurde
retaliator eine feste grösse in der skinhead szene weltweit,
aber auch vor allem in ihrer heimat england. durch ihrer metallischen,
harten sound brachten sie frischen wind in die eher eingerosteten
britische oi! landschaft. auf den vier neuen liedern entfernt
man sich doch eher von diesen hardcore einflüssen und versucht
sich im im klassischen oi!. mit erfolg! man kann behaupten, dass
diese vier lieder was vom besten ist, dass retaliator je rausgebracht
haben (bis jetzt!). textlich dreht sich alles um kult, kampf und
alkohol. der krönende abschluss macht dann noch das blitz
cover '4q'. die 7" ist auf 1000 limitiert und kommt mit textblatt.
die rückseite der hülle ziert ein gepinseltes bild der
band. also auch rein visuell ein vollkommen gelungenes werk.
highlights sind: 'patriotic alcoholics' und '4q'. die 7"
sollte man sein eigen nennen. 5 punkte |

da kommt dann auch gleich noch eine EP hinterher, die mich auf
der Stelle umgehauen hat. In meinen Augen sind die 4 Titel das
Beste, was Retaliator bisher zustande gebracht haben. Inzwischen
sind Metaleinflüsse kaum noch herauszuhören, so dass
die Musik zu einem Hörgenuss aller erster Sahne wird. Geboten
wird gewohnt harter Skinheadsound ohne Kompromisse, sprich laute
Gitarren kombiniert mit einer aggressiven Stimme. Das Sahnehäubchen
der ganzen Geschichte ist dann das Blitz – Cover "4Q",
zu dem es wie zu allen anderen Liedern die Texte auf einem ordentlichen
Beiblatt zum mitlesen gibt. |

- Patriotic Alcoholics E.P, The long awaited new e.p from Retaliator
containing four brand new tracks featuring a new line up of the
band (changed again since this recording I think). The style is
more direct and in your face the vocals are still delivered with
ferocity that you'd expect. I prefer the two tracks on the second
side of this vinyl 'Fighting On The Streets' is one hell of a
track and then there's the cover of the Blitz number '4Q' sounding

Alcoholics EP-7" Dopo l'EP di debutto, due album su CD e la partecipazione
a diverse compilations ecco un nuovo sette pollici in vinile per
gli inglesi Retaliator. La produzione del disco vede la collaborazione
della francese Guilty Records e della fanzine spagnola Camden
Town. Sempre più convincente la band di Norwich, che ha due membri
dei mitici Condemned 84 nelle proprie fila, ci propone qui quattro
tracce di Oi! tirato ed aggressivo non privo di una buona dose
di melodia e "sporco" al punto giusto. Tutti inediti e di ottimo
livello i pezzi presenti tra i quali anche una cover di 4Q dei
Blitz. I testi dei pezzi sono inclusi nell'inserto e la grafica
è molto ben curata. |

| Retaliator's
new single should be out any day now on Guilty Records/Camden
Town. It features 3 new songs in "Patriotic Alcoholics", "Fighting
On The Streets", "Chains" and a cover of "4Q" by Blitz. If that's
not enough incentive already, the cover photo was taken by yours
truly whilst on a carrot spotting holiday earlier this year. Meanwhile,
the band have also recorded five new tracks for a forthcoming
split with Bakers Dozen, and also murdered the old Tenpole Tudor
classic "Swords Of A Thousand Men" for a French compilation album.

ALCOHOLICS E.P...GUILTY RECORDS Retaliators latest offering and
as expected another good solid release.What you have here is 4
trax in typical Retaliator stylee,but with the added bonus of
more streetpunk and less metal(hoorah!)The strongest song is without
a doubt the title track,which i suspect will be a firm live favorite,if
and when the lazy buggers get off their arse's and gig! Theres
a pretty good cover of blitz's '4.Q' on here as well,and the other
two songs,'Fighting in the streets' and 'Take these chains' are
just as good.The instrumental intro to 'Take these chains' is
exceptionally good and proves that Retaliator can hold their own
against the best of the rest.All in all a quality streetpunk release,Buy
or forever be a hippy in denial!.....(rated ****) |

war nie so der grosse Fan dieser Band,da ich alle englischen Bands
an den göttlichen (frühen!) CONDEMNED 84 gemessen habe.Jetzt muss
ich meine Meinung gründlich revidieren.Mittlerweile würde ich
sagen: BRITAINS FINEST!Eine absolut geile Single,die VOLL in der
Tradition oben genannter Band steht!Sauber gespielt,gut zum mitgröhlen
und VOLL Skinhead-relevant.Mit an Bord ausserdem der BLITZ-Klassiker
"4Q" in genialer Version! Gut aufgemacht ist die Single ausserdem.Lasst
euch dieses Teil nicht entgehen! 9/10 MB |

Patriotic Alcoholics (7") Just to set the record straight, while
I hate metal, and will never be confused with a fan of Retaliators
two full lengths I don't have any problems with the band aside
from the fact that I didn't like their music. Notice I said that
in the past tense, cause this ep &om Guilty Records is fucking
awesome. While there is still a definite hard rock influence on
the guitars, especially in the solo department, Retaliator busts
out with 3 awesome oi! originals, and one of the best covers of
'4Q' that l've ever heard, and manages to leave the metal behind.
The title track of the ep is the hardest sounding musically, with
a great guitar hook and pounding drums that characterize the rest
of this single. The other tracks, 'Take these Chains' and 'Fighting
in the Streets' are great and properly showcase what hard vocals
and hard music are capable of sounding like if they are played
well together. Bottom Line: It ain't the Straw Dogs, but its pretty
fucking good. |

Patriotic Alcoholics (7") Cinq morceaux dont une reprise de Blitz
(4Q). Le premier titre est mortel dès la premiere écoute
avec un putain de refrain : "Patriotic alcoholics",
en plus on n'est pas déçu par les autres , non vraiment
un bon skeud, j'ai rien à dire de plus, c'est toujours
dans la lignée de leur second album... |
